The Top 5 Resorts And Locations For Golf Holidays In Portugal

Published by Rod Dunne under Golf

Within Europe, Portugal has long been regarded as the ideal location for golf holidays due to its year round fine weather and range of championship courses. This does make compiling a top five list quite tricky.

This top five list brings together several on-line surveys along with the personal experience of playing some of these courses while on golf holidays in Portugal.

On a hot summer’s day the 6000 yard Estoril course is an enjoyable treat. The course requires skill around the 18 holes to navigate the well placed bunkers and difficult rough.

San Lorenzo is one of the gems of the Algarve region. It regularly features on European top 10 lists of courses and boasts finely manicured greens and fairways with a course design that offers a range of holes.

For fans of links golf for whom budget is not an issue, then the pricey Vale do Lobo Royal and Ocean golf club offers a championship golfing experience. The scenery of the neighboring 5 kilometer beach complements the well kept fairways and greens throughout the courses 18 holes.

The Oitavos Golf Club is a well architected course that makes the most of the surrounding countryside. It has played host to the Open and as a result the front nine and back nine holes require long tee shots and accurate second shots in order to avoid the bunkers that are dotted around most greens.

No golfing holiday to Portugal could be complete without experiencing the Vilamoura Old Course. The steep fairways and strategic bunker placement can quickly punish what would initially appear to be accurate drives. The course architecture is sympathetically surrounded with pine trees especially on dog-legs which add to the courses difficulty.

It is fair to say that this list cannot be considered as fully comprehensive and no doubt misses out some other charming courses. Hopefully though, it provides a guide to the sheer variety of championship courses of offer in Portugal.

Looking for European golfing breaks? For the perfect golf holiday, the Algarve, Estoril and the other Portuguese regions have it all. Visit the Golf Holidays Portugal website to learn more.

Ten Reasons For Taking A Vacation In A Motorhome

Published by Marc Lanley under Outdoor Sporting

Have you ever thought about taking a motorhome break although have at times been slightly uncertain? The following article is intended to provide you with the ultimate push you might need to enable you to realize the perfect vacation.

Price – On the whole motorhome vacations will amount to far less than conventional resort holidays either at home or abroad. Motorhome holidays will also be more affordable than cruises. If you purchase an RV, over time your vacations will amount to little more than the price of the gas, the meals you consume, entertainment activities and common running expenses.

Family – Many folk maintain that RVs offer the ultimate family holiday, enabling parents to spend quality time with each other and the kids.

Flexibility – Motor homes provide the flexibility to travel anywhere you desire when you fancy. If you are enjoying any place at which you stop, you are able to stay for a longer time. Alternatively, if you do not enjoy where you are so much, you can just pack up and go somewhere else.

Versatility – RVs are tremendously adaptable and can be used for camping, traveling to open-air functions and shows and cycling holidays.

Fun – A vacation in a motorhome is primarily fun… after all you are getting to spend time traveling the great blue yonder, to your own schedule with folks who you really care about.

Comfort – Most RVs nowadays are very comfortable coming entirely equipped with air-conditioning, home entertainment systems, kitchens and bathrooms. When it comes to sleeping arrangements most RV bedding will be far more comfortable than a camping mat! Furthermore, lots of vehicles will also either provide, or include racks for carrying bikes.

Liberty – You will have the liberty to decide on where you go, the place you stay, when you leave and the length of your stay at any stop. Some people find this to be the most invigorating aspect of their motorhome journey.

Choice – You will be able to decide to stop at camping sites, RV sites or perhaps somewhere more untamed (assuming you adhere to local rules and regulations). You may decide to move from one location to another at whatever time you want or simply stay in a single place. You can actually choose to have a barbecue outside, eat in the motorhome itself or head to local eateries if there are some. The decision is quite plainly yours.

Convenience – There probably is no equal when it comes to convenience. Anything that is required will in all likelihood be installed into your vehicle aside from provisions, clothing and water. You just need to ensure these are packed and off you go!

Experiencing Nature – One of the most energizing things about this sort of holiday is the very fact that you are so close to the natural world. You can feel this just by stopping somewhere remote with few traces of a human touch. You can still drive to regions with clear untouched lakes, stunning beaches or mountainous passes by means of perfect forests: once more you have the liberty of choice. Simultaneously you have got access to any outdoor pursuit that takes your fancy, from fishing, hiking and cycling to swimming, golfing or kayaking.

If you feel this has inspired you to check out motor home breaks, why not talk about your options with a local travel business or RV supplier?

If need to find out about a specific truck bike rack, visit Marc’s website where you may also learn about Rhode Gear bike rack equipment.

Discover Ireland – Ballybunion Hotels And Amenities Guide

Published by Michael J. Murphy under Golf

Ballybunion is a charming seaside resort town in the south west of Ireland which has been drawing in tourists to its sandy beaches and to its golf clubs for many decades.

A key factor in the village’s popularity is that it is one of the few towns in the area not to have been over-commercialized with coffee shops and trendy bars. Instead it has retained a small traditional Irish town feel to it that foreign and Irish visitors still wish to experience.

The brunt of tourism to the area is drawn to the family-friendly beach and secondly to the local golf courses.

In the high season, many families take day trips to Ballybunion to enjoy its family friendly sandy beach. For older children, and the adventurous, there is a flourishing surfing scene centered on the beach. It’s a good choice for beginners or improvers to try out their surf skills since waves are not particularly high.

When the beach is crowded in summer, many visitors partake of the enjoyable cliff walk to take in the sea views and also visit some of the other beaches in the area. The ‘Nuns’ beach, with its overlooking nunnery, is a particularly nice spot for whiling away a relaxing summers day.

For holidaying golfers, a round or two at Ballybunion golf club should not be missed. The 2 courses are world famous with the Old Course regularly appearing in the top 50 lists of courses in the world. Certainly, it is in the top 3 of links style courses world-wide. The second ‘Cashen’ course is less famous, but equally enjoyable to play. The one big tip though is to book a tee-time well in advance.

A place of honor has been set aside for one of Ballybunion’s most famous golfing visitors. Former president Bill Clinton visited the golf club in 1998 to play a round of golf and to commemorate the visit the town elders installed a full size statue of Mr. Clinton in the town centre (the first such statue for the former president anywhere in the world).

The only downside to the village’s old style charm is that there are not many Ballybunion hotels and those that are would largely be considered as guesthouses. Therefore, most visitors choose to base themselves in hotels in the surrounding countryside and make day trips in to Ballybunion. Given that this area of County Kerry has some of the most beautiful countryside in Ireland it won’t be such a bad thing to be based outside the village.

Visitors to Ballybunion should drop by the small tourist office on the main street for information regarding any of the summer festivals & fares, local amenities and bus timetables.

Visit the Ballybunion Hotels website for independent advice about hotels, amenities, day trips and Ballybunion Golf Course

Best Streets of Havana

You probably know already that the best way to know a foreign city is to walk along its streets. If you are considering Havana within your scheduled itinerary for your Cuba holidays then allow me to introduce you to the nicest walks in this amazing city.

El Malecon: This is a see front avenue that stretches for 7 kilometers from La Punta Fortress in the Old Town to La Chorrera Fortress in the west end. Considered by many the most beautiful see front promenade in the world, El Malecon is also the most popular gathering place for Havana?s residents.

Paseo del Prado: El Prado Promenade was build at the end of the 19th Century alongside the west end of the wall that protected Havana?s Old Town for almost 200 years. Soon after the wall was brought down El Prado became the fanciest place to live. Today you can admire the magnificent architecture of its best?s residences.

Avenida de Los Presidentes: Also known as “Calle G” since the nomenclature given to the streets in Vedado district. Along this avenue one can admire the most opulent residence of Havana. Most of these properties are now government institutions since they were left vacant by their owner in the first few years after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

Calle 5ta:The 5th Avenue in Havana became in the 1950?s the best place to life in Havana. Today you can admire the most sumptuous properties in the whole of Cuba. Perhaps you should take a taxi and get to see this area which unfortunately is not walking distance from the best hotels in Havana.

Calle Galiano: This street is located in the municipality of Centro Habana right at the end of San Rafael Street. It is full of shops, theatres and night clubs. Perhaps the most famous night club in Havana ?Casa de La Musica? is located in Galiano Street.

Havana is a must see city and if you did not think about including at least few nights in Cuiba?s Capital then I suggest you reconsider your schedule; for Havana is the most vibrant and enigmatic province in Cuba.

Florida Hotel: Best Hotels In Havana

Published by Mauricio Maurette under Outdoor Sporting

Old Havana Hotels out of all hotels in Havana are by far the favourite hotels for the European market. They are old-recently refurbished palaces with only few dozens of rooms. This characteristic together with their location places these hotels at the very top of the list of best hotels in Havana.

Among those eye-catching hotels, Hotel Florida – one of Havana’s most remarkable properties – stands out for being one of the first hotels ever built in Havana after Cuba?s tourist industry started developing in the early 1990′s.

With only 37 rooms The Florida Hotel is a top popular hotel among European tourists who enjoy a touch of grandness and history. Its Courtyard, restaurant and Piano bar are one of the most striking features of this Palace.

This hotel is also a favourite place for businessmen meetings, wine tasting, and presentations of products. It is remarkable its stained-glass window at the upper part, second in size because the largest one decorates the ceiling of the hotel’s main staircase.

The comfort and other technical advantages that come with the 21st Century don’t seem to have a dramatic effect on this hotel. It truly looks as if it was frozen in time. History gives a special touch to this building located on the corner of Obispo and Cuba streets, having its main entrance in Obispo Street.

Only few decades after this palace was built it was abandoned. The palace lost all its charm until it was bought by an American entrepreneur who transformed it into one of the grandest hotels in Havana in the Nineteenth Century. Perhaps a coincidence but not to far from Florida Hotel is today?s most famous Cuban bar called Floridita which have franchises all over the world.

Hotel Florida’s perfect location it is definitely one of its main appeals but its charm, intimacy and luxury will guarantee you get to enjoy Havana at its most.

An Introduction To Portuguese Golfing Regions

Published by Arthur A. Sellers under Golf

A golf holiday to Portugal may be something that a great many foreign visitors won’t initially consider. In terms of European golf, the country is competing against the golfing super-powers of the British Isles, with its golfing heritage, and neighboring Spain, with its range of courses.

The array of top quality golf courses combined with the Mediterranean climate has been a huge draw for golfing breaks. The Portuguese government and the tourism board have also seen the tourism potential of holiday golfers so a great many golf resorts have begun to spring up in several regions.

The main golfing holiday regions are centered on the Lisbon region in the south west, the Algarve region in the south, the island of Madeira and the Oeste region.

Lisbon and the Estoril coast region offers the fullest range of accommodation price-wise, combined with the wonderful backdrop of the Sintra mountain range. Combine this with an array of dining options that you’d expect from a modern European capital.

The Algarve, in the south of Portugal offers the largest range of clubs to play, and for every type of budget. The southern Portuguese coast benefits from a balmy Mediterranean climate that ensures all year round golfing is possible.

Vilamoura, in the central Algarve, hosts an abundance of golf resorts and world class courses including the Quinta do Lago Laranjal and several clubs in the Oceanico resort. The eastern Algarve climate is a little cooler and green fees become a little pricier the more east you travel. Highlights of the area are the Seve Balasteros designed Quinta do Vale golf course and the Jack Nicklaus designed Monte Rei.

The island of Madeira (a small island 500 kilometers due west of the Algarve in the North Atlantic) is a different proposition. It prides itself as a paradise island location and it is truly that.

For the avid golfer, this island provides 3 exceptional courses to play. So, while it doesn’t have the breadth of course choices to offer, it can definitely provide for an idyllic golf location for those seeking something different.

The one region that is lagging behind the others is the Oeste region which doesn’t have the championship clubs and plush resorts found elsewhere. But if you are seeking some tranquility then the pleasant golf clubs, scenic drives and charming villages could make for a relaxing golfing break.

On the subject of green fees, the cost can vary widely across the country. Expect to pay a minimum of 50 Euro for a regular quality course in low season and around 80 to 90 Euro during the high season (July & August).

The majority of courses can be booked online and it is highly recommended to book in advance. Dress codes are usually informal but it is worth checking club websites online.

Looking for European golfing breaks? For the perfect golf holiday Algarve, Estoril and the other Portuguese regions have it all. Visit the Golf Holidays Portugal Guide to learn more.

Eureka Assault and Eureka Equinox: Tents to Keep You Dry on Your Next Camping Trip

Published by Michelle Robert under Outdoor Sporting

My family and I love to camp, but I guess you could say I am somewhat of a “fair weather” camper, since the idea of camping in any kind of bad weather does not appeal to me. But, like it or not, weather has a way of happening, so having a tent that can handle whatever Mother Nature has in mind is important. Eureka makes two such tents: the Eureka Equinox 6 and the Eureka Assault Outfitter. Each is designed differently, but they both are great at holding up to the elements.

Let’s first look at the Eureka Equinox 6. This tent will do a fantastic job of keeping everyone dry. The heavy duty oxford nylon floor is designed to repel water and even the window design helps to keep things dry, since they are hooded to protect against the rain. And the Eureka Stormshield polyester fly also adds to keeping out the rain, with additional full coverage as well as improving the overall durability.

The design of the Eureka Equinox 6 is an important aspect of what makes this a great tent. It has a hexagonal dome shape that provides a lot of space inside: it can sleep up to 6 people with 87 square feet. Don’t have 6 people? Then you have more space to spread out inside. Plus, you will have a center height of 79 inches so you will have plenty of room for a tall person to stand upright.

The Eureka Assault Outfitter is a different style of tent, in that it was designed similar to the tents Eureka makes for the military…so it is meant to handle the harshest conditions there are. If you need a tent that can go anywhere, any time of the year, this is a tent you will want to consider. It’s domed shape sheds snow and rain very easily, so will easily protect you from the elements all year long.

Now the Eureka Assault Outfitter is not a big tent, sleeping up to three people in just 64 square feet of space. But at a little over 13 pounds it is easy to transport, in fact many folks find it to be a great tent for backpacking. This is not the tent to use for camping with a lot of family members for a long vacation, but for a quick set-up, easy to carry tent, it is just right.

Want to stay dry while you camp? Then take a look at these two tents. Both the Eureka Equinox 6 and the Eureka Assault Outfitter are tough and able to withstand just about any kind of weather. For me, that makes them just about perfect!

Camping with your family can be a lot of fun but not having the right gear can make your trip miserable. Want to be sure to have a fun camping vacation? Learn more about the Eureka Equinox 6 tent and the Eureka Assault Outfittertent, read the reviews from satisfied owners and see if one of them is the best tent for you.
