Backpacking : A world of difference

Published by Joseph Then under Outdoor Sporting

Let me ask you a simple question. Have you ever thought of backpacking? Well, if you have been thinking of the adventure and fun you will have while backpacking, then you are at the right place. This article will offer tell you why you should backpack.

Firstly, we have to understand what backpacking is. Backpacking is a form of low-cost travel. In other words, backpacking is a way where you can travel around without bringing too much money. But, backpacking means that there will be no luxuries like posh hotels and air-con malls.

I am sure some of you may find it difficult to find pals who are willing to travel with you. Some of your friends are not keen to go on an adventure like this.

Trust me on this; you won’t be alone for long. Trust me a month of backpacking does not mean a month of loneliness. There are many other like minded people traveling the way you are.

The best tips I can offer you; the easiest way to make friends is to get involved in activities. Join a group of people to scuba dive. I am sure you’ll make friends there. Alternatively, simply strike up a conversation in the hostel. Make sure you do it with a smile. You can say something simple like ‘Hey guys I am on my own. Mind if I join you?’ Sounds very simple, right?

Here’s one more really good reason for backpacking: You can really get out of your working life. Backpacing allows you to almost leave everything behind, without a worry.

Well if you are living behind your boy/girlfriend, here’s a tip that I can offer you. You should take a timeout before you leave. Well, if you are in a serious relationship the I suggest that you both should come out with ground rules when you are away.

Backpacking on your own is a brave decision, but it’s important to know what it is you actually want to do while traveling.

How? Well you should do a research on the country or countries that you are going. The next thing that you should note is money. Traveling alone with not so much cash needs can be quite difficult. Next, learn how to manage your cash.

Dealing with different environments can be difficult but I assure you that while backpacking it may be hard for the first week but you will get the hang of it. Taking care of yourself and also learn from the new environment can be surprisingly easy.

If you are thinking that you need more confidence while traveling, carry a guide book with you. It helps if the guide books contain phrases that are commonly used in a country in their language.

Bringing home the different perspective of life is priceless. Some may be wondering why I say this. Simple, you have a first hand experience of different cultures and knowledge.

How? You should try to participate in as much activities as you can while you are in another country. And the last tip I can give you is that you should learn as much as you can about the culture of the people in the country.

Now that you are armed with this knowledge, I am sure you will be confident enough to set off into this learning experience on your own.

Backpacking can be a great experience, even if you go backpacking alone. Avoid all the mistakes made by beginners by reading up a couple of Backpacking Tips. Go to this website and find out more about backpacking : http://www.backpackingtips.net

Senior Golf Vacation Holidays

Published by Owen Jones under Golf

If you are looking at senior golf vacation packages where you can get golf lessons, a friendly game of golf or watch a PGA Tour, you might look on the Internet to see where the best destinations might be. You could travel to Arizona, Hawaii, Bermuda or Myrtle Beach.

You could have some exciting rounds of golf when you reserve a senior golf package that involves accommodation, airfare and a couple of days of golf. You will not only get pleasure from your golf, but the many attractions in the area as well. Vacation packages are great and when they involve golf at a very prestigious club, you will have an even better time.

Myrtle Beach has some of the most prestigious golf vacation packages with diverse activities built into each one. You can play the Big Cat and even have a lesson or two from the ex- Senior Golf Tour player Gary Cowan. Gary Cowan was the winner of two majors and had eight appearances in other majors.

You might prefer the Big Cat package, the Fanatic golfer package or the four rounds and three-night package. The latter is for the true golfer. Four days of golf and only three-nights in the hotel is what you get with this holiday package.

In Maui, you can play one of the courses designed by Robert Trent Jones; enjoy a day in the warm sun and experience a golf course like you have never played before. You can stay at the Kaanapali Beach hotel and take the short walk to the golf course.

The two courses are a senior golfer’s delight. The South Course has an executive style, but with little complexity whereas the North Course runs through the foothills and along the beach and is considered a challenging golf course. It is also home to the PGA Tour.

If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, you might like to try the senior golf vacation package to Bermuda. With nine golf courses spread out on twenty-one acres of land, you will find that this is one of the most extraordinary experiences of a lifetime. You can pick from fourteen hotels and resorts that offer senior golf vacation packages. With ocean all around, you will feel the warm breeze and smell the sea as you enjoy a great game of golf. Many vacation packages include at least one day of golf, but you can find vacation package deals with more days as well.

However, the story of senior golf vacation packages does not stop there. You could enjoy a trip to Arizona where you can find some of the foremost golfing schools. The golf courses in the area put on the PGA and the LPGA. The Scottsdale area is filled with many senior friendly golf courses that will interest even the accomplished golfer.

Not only do you have the game of golf, but some of the best entertainment is on hand in the area as well. You can plan a senior golf outing anywhere you can find a great package deal and professional coaching.

A Brief Look At Snowboarding

Published by Adriana Noton under Winter Sports

Visitors to the Winter Olympics in Nagano Japan in 1998 were witnesses to the debut of snowboarding as an Olympic sport, it having been approved as such in 1994 by the International Olympic Committee. It is not surprising that it reached the world’s largest sports stage. Since the mid 1960s, an ever increasing number of snowboarders have taken to ski slopes around the world. Its popularity as a winter sport is perhaps best understood if you consider that in the mid 1980s snowboarding was allowed on less than ten percent of the ski areas in the United States; today it is permitted on over ninety-five percent.

Not far removed from the design of a skateboard or surfboard, the snowboard is designed to dash down a snow covered slope. Unlike skiing, this sport entails using a piece of equipment that looks like a short wide ski. Snowboarders’ boots are mounted in flexible bindings that are slightly perpendicular to the board, rather than facing forward as in a pair of skis.

Snowboarding’s broadest appeal is among young people. The largest age group of participants falls into the age range of eighteen to twenty-four. There are two primary reasons for this. The first is cost. Whereas a pair of entry-level skis may run from four to six hundred dollars, one can purchase a starter snowboard, with boots and bindings, for approximately two hundred dollars. Or they can go even cheaper through rental. The second reason centers on athletic creativity and the perception that it is “hip.” The sport lends itself to myriad styles, techniques, and tricks.

Freestyle is the most common form of snowboarding to those new to the sport. Few, if any, tricks are incorporated as part of the run down the slope. Freestyle boards are usually wider, more stable, more flexible and lighter than other boards so that beginners can more easily negotiate turns and bumps.

The freeride style is the form most embraced by snowboarders. Freeriders are not limited to the type of terrain they use (i.e., Snow-covered or dry slopes.) Additionally, they will adapt to various snow conditions, such as deep powder or ice. Aerial, surface and halfpipe tricks make up part of the repertoire of the freerider. Freeride boards are stiffer than freestyle types so to better execute hard turns.

The fastest form of boarding is freecarving. Very few jumps or tricks are performed; speed is the essence of freecarving. Carving is usually executed on hard-packed snow and requires hard turns while hurtling down the slope. It is not a style meant for beginners because of the necessity of advanced board control. Freecarve boards (also known as Alpine boards) tend to be longer and narrower than other kinds of boards.

One of the great allures of snowboarding is the chance to perform a variety of tricks. Not unlike surfing or skateboarding, snowboarding tricks involve jumps, twists, and spins. Some of the better known maneuvers are ollies, nollies, melons, poptarts, flails, Japan air, and Canadian bacon.

Snowboarding should continue to grow in popularity as a winter sport. Its acceptance as an Olympic sport and its ever increasing television coverage has brought the sport into the sports mainstream.

With breathtaking scenery and boundless recreational facilities, the Blue Mountain cottage accomodations provide the ideal vacation experience. Enjoy the vibrant culture, exciting tours, luxurious chalets, lodging rentals, spa packages, and more!
