Sheffield FC – The Oldest Club Around

Published by Phil Lister under Football

Yorkshire in England is not the place you would usually expect to find a popular Football Club. That being said, Sheffield F.C. is exactly that, founded in South Yorkshire. Not only are they a very popular club, but they actually have a big fan base due to the fact that they are the oldest club in the World that still plays Association Football, being founded in 1857. Football Forums across the globe recognise fact, which is why they are talked about on such a large scale.

In all honesty, the team does struggle in comparison to top teams in the UK, and are not in the top league, currently competing in the Northern Premier League Division. They have used a range of places as their home ground over the years, take Bramall Lane for instance. Of course, they have settled at a new ground since then, being the Coach and Horses Ground in Dronfield, Derbyshire.

It has been a long time since there has been a Sheffield Derby. The first recorded event took place back in 1860, when Sheffield took on Hallam for the first time. Events like these are still talking about on a range of Football Forums on a worldwide basis, mainly because they are known for being the oldest club still in play today

Whilst they are a popular club, they are no necessarily one of the top clubs in the UK. In fact, they would not touch the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea. Even so, they have managed to pick up a few trophies, including the FA Amateur Cup back in 1904, and a 2nd place in the FA Vase back in 1977. This short lived success is still discussed on most major Football Forums.

It was actually 1855 when the idea first came about for Sheffield F.C. when the Cricket Club organised several friendly games between members. Whilst no official rules were used throughout these games, it sparked a great deal of interest in football and in fact, a football club in the area.

Nathaniel Creswick and William Prest were the ones behind the Sheffield team and soon started to brain storm ideas. Before long they had a plan in place and a meeting in 1857 was all that was needed to confirm the development of the Sheffield Football Team. They have been going strong ever since, and their fan base is easily recognized by visiting popular Football Forums.

Electric Scooters

Published by Sam Morton under Outdoor Sporting

Many of us love the freedom of riding a motorcycle as well as the economical value it offers, especially now with fuel costs at an all time high. However , a few people just are not comfortable operating a bike. A great alternative is to select an electric scooter. They also are very economically as well as straightforward to operate. This is a great choice for riding around town. I know many moms and pops who compromise purchasing their teen a scooter instead of a real motorcycle. Scooters also cost less than a motorcycle.

Safety is still a prerequisite while operating an electric scooter. It is important that you wear a helmet as well as long sleeved shirts and pants to stop road rash. You also need to follow the guidelines of the road. Too many people have the myth that a scooter can be operated like a bicycle instead of a car on the road. In several states you have got to get a bike license to legally operate one at streetlevel. Kids must be the legal age to drive one as determined by their state rules.

Depending on the sort of electrical scooter you get, you can predict spending from $200 to $1,000. The costs are fair, so that your time finding one that fits you completely. There are many styles and colours available from a spread of makers. Many ladies love operating a scooter vs a motorcycle thanks to the weight difference.

You may also find scooters that feature a stand up or a sit down design. The younger children definitely appear to favor the stand up type but it actually isn’t going to be comfortable when you are on it for a period of time. You also will not have the space for storing if you want to hold anything with you.

Most electrical scooters need little maintenence, further adding to your transport savings. Mostly you will be able to do the basic maintenance and even repairs on your own. You could be wondering how energy efficient an electric scooter is. While the express savings will vary by model, most of them can get sixty MPG of fuel.

Since electrical scooters don’t take up much space and they’re light weight, may university youngsters wish to use one rather than a vehicle. They can even ride it around campus and secure it on the bike rack. A lot of them can get up to 30 mph so a quick trip to town or the grocery store is even possible with one.

The Best 5 NFL QBs of the Decade

Published by Ben Gerard under Football

The decade is almost over, and it’s time to reflect on it a bit. Being the big sports fan that I am, not to mention the fact that I’m watching football right now, I thought that it’d be nice to take a look at the top 5 quarterbacks of this past decade.

Keep in mind that this is based on everything they’ve done through the course of the decade, not based on the top 5 guys at the moment. With that in mind, it’s very well possible that some younger QB ends up having a better career (or next decade) than any of the guys on my list.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this, and I’d love to hear any feedback if you happen to disagree with me. Here we go.

The fifth spot in these rankings goes to Kurt Warner. While it’s true that he was weak during the middle of the decade, he’s been one of the strongest in the NFL during the beginning and at the end of this decade. Having led the Rams and the Cardinals to Super Bowls, he’s been exceptional – especially when you consider the usual demise of both franchises.

Next up is Brett Favre. The veteran QB still looks great to this day, but his lack of a Super Bowl run prevents him from going any further here. Still, it’s hard to argue against the fact that Favre has been amazing.

With 5 conference championship appearances on his resume, Donovan McNabb has done his share to earn a spot on this list. The Eagles have been perennially strong during this decade, thanks to a great defense and a top notch quarterback.

Tom Brady. With his three Super Bowl rings, a 212-90 career record, and a 93.4 career QB rating, all of which took place during the course of the decade, Brady has been phenomenal.

Peyton Manning has been consistently amazing throughout the course of his career. This decade was no exception, as the Colts have been a constantly competitive team and always a threat to win the AFC. Manning is one of those quarterbacks who only surfaces once or twice per generation.

Go Light With Your Electric Powered Scooter

Published by Steve Drury under Outdoor Sporting

Scooters are low maintenance autos. You do not have to worry about space in the garage if you have got a scooter, and never again do you have to fuss over high-traffic.

Indeed, scooters can maneuver thru the tightest of jams and take you to anyplace you want without fear of getting stuck and becoming intensely late somewhere. To add, you can also kiss elusive car parking slots goodbye.

As if scooters are still not great machines, some inventive minds have come up with electrical powered scooters. The product is comparatively new so not everyone might already know about it. Actually, we infrequently see electrical powered scooters cruising the streets. But that does not discount the proven fact that they are very practical to use, particularly at a time oil and gas prices are showing no evidence of backing down.

An electric powered scooter, as its name recommends, is run using electricity. The unit is connected up to an outlet, charged and then used. If the battery shows signs of weakening, you’ll need to recharge so it doesn’t conk out on you in the middle of nowhere.

Some critics have also panned the concept of an electric powered scooter because they say it is a burden on one’s electricity bill. its fans disagree that it is a great solution to the world’s reliance on oil and gas, which are fast becoming scant.

Electric powered scooters come in diverse sizes and designs. Like the regular scooters, they can also run in different speeds. So if you want to just cruise around suburbia, you’ve got your electric powered scooter to guarantee you that your feet won’t get exhausted.

For the moment, electric powered scooters are still a small expensive. But when the product catches on and the demand increases, it will become more accessible to a lot of folk. A lot of us always protest about always being late to somewhere due to traffic. Now, you can go from one place to another in just a short while. The neatest thing is, you won’t actually have to burn fuel anymore, so you’re also doing the environment a favor.

The Strongest NBA Clubs In The NBA Eastern Conference

Published by Grant Martin under Basketball

If you follow basketball, you know that this year’s season, up to this point, has been nothing short of awesome! Many of the teams that are always at the top of the standings have now become somewhat vulnerable and lots of the newer teams are making themselves known as worthy contenders. This means that the postseason cannot be predicted, thus the answer to just who is going to end up at the top is not known.

You just never know what could happen over the course of the playoffs, even though the Lakers are favored to come out on top in the Western Conference. Right now, the action in the Eastern Conference is pretty great to watch.

Have you been trying to figure out what teams in the Eastern Conference will actually end up in the NBA finals? Here we will discuss the three teams that have the best chance of making it there.

To start with, Orlando holds the #2 spot in the Eastern Conference and they went all the way to the finals in the NBA just last season. Now, it is true that Cleveland has them beat by seven games, but Orlando really has a good chance to get to the finals.

They just don’t seem to go at it with as much intensity as they did last year. There is still time for them to change this though, as long as they get busy with that right now.

Next we have Boston, the team that has two key players, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, who are dealing with injuries this season and, thus, are not 100 percent. There is also a rumor going around that Ray Allen might be traded. So, these injuries and the possible trade will indeed affect this team’s performance. This team, just two seasons ago, made it all the way and came away with the NBA title.

Lastly, the Cleveland Cavs have finally emerged and look to be playing their best basketball of the season. While they got off to a slow start, it looks like they’ve finally adjusted to the presence of Shaquille O’Neal in their lineup and they clearly look like the best in the East now. The challenge here will be breaking through in the playoffs and beating the Boston and Orlando teams that shut them down during each of the last two years.

Do Fantasy Sports Have More Drawbacks Than Positives?

Published by Carlos Reese under Football

One of my hobbies is playing fantasy sports leagues. I’ve playing for a while now and have fantasy teams in baseball, basketball and football. I’ve also tried other basic, sports based games.

At the end of the day, this is good, harmless fun. You act as a team manager and buy and sell players and build your team, giving you areal sense of satisfaction when your team wins.

As with all things that you really enjoy doing; fantasy leagues get very addictive. There are loads of stats and positions to check and I find myself doing this constantly, and also checking out my competitor’s results.

I’ve even watched matches that I couldn’t care less about just to see how it will affect my teams’ placings. I will also follow games for the same reason. There are some that actually wonder if it is harmless considering how addicted some players get.

A true sports fan loves a good competition where things are nip and tuck; it brings out our competitive nature. There are lots of positive things about playing these leagues, and like a real sport, they keep us occupied for the duration of the season.

On the flip side, I do tend to get rather over involved and lose my temper when players put in bad performances and feel that they have let the rest of the team down. This often overshadows the actual result.

Like many of us, I have favorite teams in real life that I have been a fan of since childhood. Why now, for the first time ever, is my allegiance being tested by teams that don’t even exist? If fixtures clash I’m in the horrible situation of having to choose between them.

Do I have a problem? Well if I do there are millions of us. This is a topic for hot debate by many sports enthusiasts.

Facts All Tennis Players Will Want To Acknowledge Relating To Red Clay Tennis Courts

Published by Thomas Bear under Outdoor Sporting

The red clay that is used as the surface on a tennis court originated right back to the origins of the game. If you play tennis yourself, you have been privileged to have a game on this famous surface. The history of the red clay court is particularly prevalent in Spain and the home of the only major played on clay; France.

This is a unique surface and makes the style of play completely different from other surfaces. To actually play on clay is an exhilarating experience.

If you have never had the pleasure of playing on red clay, and would like to know a little more about it, here’s a few interesting facts.

The serve and volley players who regularly record wins on other surfaces will often struggle on the red clay. To win on this surface you will be playing from the baseline with punishing ground strokes.

If you do ever see a player approach the net while playing on clay, it is a very rare thing indeed. Those who rely on their booming serve will also find that it hasn’t the effect on this surface as it does on others.

So why is the strategy for this game so different? Well, it is very simple, the clay is a thick and heavy surface which sticks to the ball and therefore slows it Down considerably.

Where as on other surfaces such as hard courts the ball skids along the surface at speed, on clay courts it is slowed right down by the thickness of the surface.

As the ball has been slowed down; it will bounce a lot higher than on other surfaces, so the players have more time to get to the ball and return it. It is due to this that clay can claim to have some of tennis’ longest matches played on it.

The rallies are obviously longer and shots easier to reach than they would be on the fast courts. A sure fire winner on grass is probably reachable on clay.

Speed is the key on clay, to reach the ball early while it is still on the rise and put it away thanks to a thumping ground stroke.

Is Albert Pujols The Clear Choice For Most Consistent Modern Day Hitter?

Published by Matt Finley under Sports Equipment

Sports are always a topic of debate, and baseball is no exception. If you are a fan, you will undoubtedly have been asked at sometime if you think that the best hitter you\’ve ever seen is Albert Pujols.

To keep the debate modern and up to date, we shall only compare Pujols with players we are familiar with from the past thirty years.

Going back even further doesn\’t give a very fair debate, as the whole nature of the game was different; equipment and fields etc. Ok, Willie Mays and Ted Williams were great in their day; to compare them with Pujols is unfair to all three of them.

As the game has evolved so much, we can\’t tell how well players from the past would have played today, and vice versa. We can consider Pujols to be the batsman of our times on his merits alone.

To start with, there is a possibility he can still improve as he doesn\’t hit 30 until his next birthday. His consistency has been second to none; few players can boast that they have turned out every week and played like Pujols has, let\’s check out a few of his statistics.

Albert Pujols has a career average that is capable of winning a league. His overall average is an amazing .334. His second season brought about the lowest average of .312 and his worst since has been .327.

Pujols is an MLB player and has now played 9 seasons in this league. During 5 of those he has hit 40 home runs. The lowest amount he has ever hit in a season is 32; this is an outstanding stat by anyone\’s standards.

There are many for arguments in the debate about Pujols being a terrific hitter, and, so far, no against ones. Each year his consistency is awesome and it\’s hard to believe now that anyone can take his place as the best batsman we will have ever seen.

Which Attribute Means The Most In The Sport Of Tennis?

Published by Paige Seton under Outdoor Sporting

As the sport continues to evolve, many players and fans of tennis will debate the merits of the most important skill that a player can possess.

So it\’s all just conjecture really, but it\’s still worth having a debate over just for the fun of it and there are many aspects of the sport to choose from.

I have listed a few elements to consider. Which do you think are important?

What about volleying? A game that it going too smoothly can become a disadvantage for opponents as point may easily be lost. Just take a look back at players of the past such as John McEnroe.

Is baseline play across the net favoured by modern games? A Lot of tennis experts would argue in favour. Andy Roddick would spend time playing the game from the net but he now prefers the baseline play. And take the example of Rafael Nadal who also takes control from the rear of the court.

On the other hand, maybe it is the serve that is important. A strong serve will give the player a distinct advantage over their opponent and if you consider the example of Roddick who will control the course of the match with his serve if he has made it difficult for his opponent to break them.

And what about the speed of the players? It obviously helps out a lot if the player can reach the ball every time and the opponent then has to work that bit harder to gain a point.

The last factor is the x-factor, and the one that I personally feel matters most. This is the mental game. The superstars like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have some of the toughest mental games in the history of the sport.

With the ability to rarely be rattled, their stoic composure and never say die attitude wins them so many more matches than the stats would indicate.
