So much snow in Niseko, around 30 up top and face shots off the groomed runs

Published by Larry under Winter Sports

www.skihanazono.com Around the mountain Adventure Park activities are open. 17 lifts are up and running with gates and The Hanazono Terrain Park opening around 10am. Going back country ensure you have required avalanche safety gear. Wind chill is down to -29 with a top of -10 degrees at the base. Westerly winds should be around 20 to 25km/hr. The outlook for snow this week is looking fantastic. Temperatures are so cold that having some -20 wax on your skis or board wouldn’t go astray. Blue Mountain Chalets: A Whole New World Of Family Fun.

Published by Adriana Noton under Winter Sports

A vacation in the Blue Mountain region close to Ontario in Canada will expose your family to a whole new world of fun. No matter what time of the year you go, there will at any stage be lots to see and do. For the family man it simply doesn\’t get any better than a stay at one of the various Blue Mountain chalets.

In the first place staying in a chalet will cost much less for a family of four or more than a hotel stay would cost. For four people you will have to pay for at least two rooms in a hotel, pushing up the costs quite dramatically. A week for four in a decent quality hotel could seriously damage your family budget and not leave enough money to really enjoy yourselves and do everything you wanted to do.

Another aspect to keep in mind is that if you opt to stay in a hotel, it won\’t have any facilities where you can prepare meals for your family. All of you will therefore have to eat out every single meal, whether in a restaurant at the hotel or somewhere in town. This is bound to sharply escalate your holiday expenses and once again cause you to have less money to spend on other activities.

Another factor that makes a chalet such a good choice compared to a hotel room is simply the issue of personal space. Most chalets are quite spacious. There will normally be an area where the family can relax, play games, watch television et cetera. The majority of chalets will either have a large counter with bar stools where the whole family can gather for a meal, or otherwise there will be a dining area.

In an area like Blue Mountain, which gets very cold in winter, many chalets offer a fireplace where the whole family can snuggle up on a cold evening. Somehow the heat provided by an electric heater simply doesn\’t offer the same ambiance than a crackling log fire. This makes for quality family time that all of you will remember many years into the future.

Many chalets even offer facilities like a pool table where the family can keep themselves busy during a long evening when it\’s perhaps raining outside. Some even offer private swimming pools and hot tubs. Those that don\’t have private pools mostly have access to a communal swimming pool, which is great if you are visiting during summer.

If you should opt to stay in a chalet it of course doesn\’t mean that you\’re cut off from life in the vicinity. You can go out as often as you want. There are so many restaurants in the immediate area that you can dine out at a different place every night of the week. If mom and dad want to break away to a cozy, candle-lit venue and the children want pizza, it won\’t be hard to find exactly what each group want conveniently close to each other.

Blue mountain chalets are in many respects perfect for a family holiday. There are so much to see and to do in the area that nobody will ever be bored. There\’s entertainment for all age groups and every member of the family will return home rejuvenated and ready for life\’s challenges.

Planning to ski or snowboard but don\’t have a place to stay? Save money by staying in Blue Mountain chalets instead of hotels. Enjoy the comfort of a home while being close to the mountain in these Blue Mountain accommodations. With breathtaking views and in an area with many unique experiences, you\’re bound to enjoy yourself.

Snow Skiing in Winter Park, Colorado – 1st Person Ski POV

Published by Larry under Winter Sports

This is a first person video of my wife and I skiing in Winter Park, Colorado. This footage was filmed in 2001 and edited shortly after in Adobe Premiere. My wife uses a weird helium voice on video, but doesn't actually sound like this in person. Also, about halfway through the video you'll notice that she wants me to pass her the video camera (brand new, at the time) on the ski lift. Reluctantly, I did, but as I stated in the video I was "very nervous" because it seemed likely that she would let it fall 50 feet to its doom. She did not, and all was well. The first half of the clip is set to the song Rocky Mountain High by John Denver. When I first saw the Rockies I really did feel like John did when he wrote that song. Amazing. The second tune in the clip is Learning To Fly by Foo Fighters because they just plain ROCK. I hope you enjoy the clip.

SKI SIERRA NEVADA 2009 snow skiing crashes resort boarding border radical extreme (not)

Published by Larry under Winter Sports

Spear's 9th day ever on ski's, getting to grips with black runs now, loving the speed rather than style, I must get some lessons soon, kindly pointed out by one youtube viewer (after only a few days on ski's thank you very much). Head to the Sierra Nevada slopes with Marc, Carlo, Nick, James, Claudia & Michelle for a days skiing on our regular Fun Friday. Only a 2 hour drive from Marbella beach to the slopes. Spear in orange and grey (should stick to motorsport), Marc in black (Blades), Carlo in black and grey (board) Nick in blue (skiing), james (jimbo) dark outfit on a board, Claudia in pink (skiing) and Michelle in white & light blue (skiing). The Mountain, resort & slopes still had the great snow and everyone enjoyed the total freedom of on and off piste all over the mountains. We had some big crashes but had an excellent day hope you enjoy our short Vid. (March 2009)
