Fairway Woods Instruction-Tips to Make the Right Swing

Published by Roland Mahon under Golf

Hitting the 3 wood from a difficult lie can be very challenging, but this doesn\’t mean you should avoid using the club. The three wood, after your driver is the longest golfclub in the bag, so avoiding it would mean you are sacrificing some distance, and also the opportunity to hit shorter irons into the green.

Golf shots with Irons are most effective when the ball is struck on a downward stroke at impact, whereas fairway woods, utilize a sweeping type motion that strikes the golf ball as the club moves parallel to the ground.

Take a wide stance, as you would using the driver, position the golfball opposite the inside of your left heel and distribute your weight evenly and comfortably on the balls of your feet.

Start the golfswing on a low path that almost skims the grass, and try to repeat that shallow path on your downswing. Try to remember, keep your right shoulder level with the ground and pull through with your left hand.

Keep your upper torso behind the golf ball, maintain head position, and be sure to extend your arms toward the target in your follow through.

Don\’t feel that you need to try to assist the golf ball into the air, the three wood and fairway woods have more than enough loft to do the job. Simply try to maintain the club head on an even path through impact.

For more advanced players, if you need to develop more loft in a shot, try playing the ball a little further back in your stance, drop your hands slightly at address and position a little more weight over your back foot, this will encourage your spine to lean away from your target.

Implementing these changes can position you for a much better swing to sweep the ball off of the fairway, while adding more loft to your shot.

To hit a golf shot with a lower, piercing ball flight, just do the opposite. Meaning, place the golf ball where you would normally play a mid iron from, it\’s about 2 ball widths back towards the middle of your stance, then place more weight onto your front leg.

These alterations to your set-up can assist you to take the loft off the golf club at impact, which will produce a lower ball flight and hopefully allow your golfball to run up onto the green.

Altering your stance to hit a different shot with your fairway wood is the much preferred way when you need to produce differing golf ball flights from the same golfclub. It\’s more beneficial, safer and simpler to choose this alteration in your stance than changing your golfswing.

Hitting a 3 Wood from a Tight Lie-Fairway Wood Instruction:

1. Play your ball back of your stance

2. Sweep the golf ball off the fairway

3. Strike your ball with a descending blow

4. Shift your weight to your lead side

5/ Swing through the ball

The key to hitting different shots and taking strokes off your game with your fairway wood is to adjust your stance, not your swing, to achieve the lofts you need.

Remembering these few things, like don\’t expect to hit that perfect shot, it may never happen, so just relax, don\’t allow stress and tension to creep into your game. Always tee up on the same side of trouble, hitting away from it, aim for a clear and definite target in the distance. Please don\’t stress about hitting it long, focus on your accuracy then in time distance will come.

What To Look For In A Beginner Golf Club Set

Published by Tina Traver under Golf

If you\’ve been learning how to play golf with rental clubs then it\’s probably time to start thinking about buying your own beginner golf club set. You don\’t need to get anything as fancy as what the PGA golfers use. Anything on that level will probably be too difficult for you to play. All you need is an inexpensive but quality made set to help you continue practicing.

Just because you\’ll be looking for an inexpensive beginner golf club set doesn\’t mean that you\’ll be sacrificing on quality clubs. You\’ll be able to find great clubs at this level that will help improve your game. By saving money on new clubs, that will leave you more money to spend on lessons. Lessons are more beneficial at this stage. There are a few things that you should keep in mind when shopping.

There\’s no need to spend your money on long irons at this stage of the game. The hybrid 3, 4, and 5\’s will work just fine. Woods are very easy to hit for those long shots so you\’ll want to be sure that your set has 3-wood and 5-wood lofted fairway woods. Since this will give you 4 or 5 different clubs to work with, you should hit around with all four to see how they feel. You\’ll most likely find one that\’s more comfortable than the others to start playing with.

You\’ll want a larger headed driver because they\’re much easier to hit. This means that a driver with a 440-460 cc forged titanium head will work best. Most beginner golfers have natural slices so a driver with a draw-biased weight screw will help you counteract the slice. An extra loft of 10 to 12 degrees is better for distance and accuracy.

Many beginners use their putter more than any other club in the bag. Good putting takes practice so its good to start with a putter with a large head so it\’s easier to hit and will give you more accuracy. Putters with stabilization designs and a high MOI (moment-of-inertia) will help you have a more consistent stroke.

Your new beginner golf club set should also have a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. Not all beginner sets have these two clubs but trust me, you\’ll be glad you have them. These club should have balanced weight screws and be perimeter weighted. This will give you a deeper center of gravity so you have more control.

The Top Flite XL 5000 Full Box Set is the best beginner golf club set available. It comes with a total of 18 pieces and includes all of the clubs that we have discussed. You probably won\’t need them all to begin with but I can guarantee you\’ll be glad to have them as your game improves. This beginner set is value priced and has great quality.

Shopping for a beginner golf club set is fun and exciting. There\’s no better time than now to find out all that you can about the best beginner set out there, the Top Flite XL 5000 Box Full Set.

Golf Clubs

Published by Derek Tammy under Golf

There are many smaller makers that you may have seen that don\’t appear on the golfing Digest list. While these brands are frequently less expensive than the brands that appear on the list, you generally get what you pay for. The manufacturers on the golfing Digest Hot List represent the upper echelon in terms of quality. If you want your clubs to last for one or two years and still have some secondhand value when you go to upgrade again, try to stick with the manufacturers on the golf Digest Host List. If you\’d like some explanation about the standard of some of the smaller manufacturers, have a look at their drivers. Quite often you will be able to find 1 or 2 manufacturers that are really copying the styling of a Taylormade or Callaway driver. If they\’d really put the time and effort into making a top-notch golf club they might have taken the time to come up with unique styling of their own.

If you\’re only starting to play golfing, you should not purchase a new golf club set straight away as you may discover this game isn\’t for you later. Similarly, you are yet to find the type of golf clubs that fits you in the learning stage. The good choice is to begin with cheap used clubs. And here are some laws to help you to track down your first used golf club set :

First, you may need to play with the rental clubs at a driving range. In this time, don\’t be scared to ask your mates or other golfers to try their clubs on the range. This is a great opportunity for you to judge which sort of clubs is correct for you. After hitting for a time period at the driving range and you believe it\’s time to purchase your own clubs, then ….

When you go out to buy used clubs, you should usually rely on folk who know golfing kit well. You can search for your local pro at your local municipal course as a source of information and advice. Or you can consult the pros at the golf shop or perhaps your pal who plays well or who knows anything about golf clubs. Or, you can search the Net for used golf club reviews. You can always ask people for recommendation but bear in mind that what suits them may not required prove good in your hands. Therefore , it is more important to identify the golf club set that appropriate to your ability yourself.

Now to get the best performance possible from your golf clubs, you can get them custom made. Whether you are going to be using the clubs now and again or highly frequently, if they are custom made they are going to give you the most impressive results every time.

Are you thinking \”I don\’t play golf enough to need custom golf clubs\”? If so then stop right there! You actually do not need to play golfing religiously to justify having custom made clubs. As with each past-time, you would like to have the best possible kit to play well. You do not wish to play golf badly even if it is just a pastime. So custom made clubs may be employed if you are an amateur or a pro.

If you have a look at each and every single golfer, you may shortly realise that all of them look different. They\’re a different build and their bodies move in other ways. So why should it appear sensible that they should all use the same golf clubs? It doesn\’t and if a 5\”4 golf player attempted to use the same club as a 6\”2 golfing player then there would be serious issues. You won\’t get identical results and it can be uncomfortable to employ a club that does not suit your size and shape. That is why custom made clubs do come in helpful.

Various Range Of Series Of Callaway 3 Wood On The Market

Published by Bob Thompson under Golf

Every golfer has a different swing as as such the Callaway 3 wood range has four different types of clubs in this club bracket. The most well known of these is probably the Big Bertha Diablo, there are also the X-Hot, the FT and the FT-i Squareway. Below I will describe the main benefits of each club and it\’s defining feature, I will also talk briefly about when to use a wood and some common features of them.

The Big Bertha Diablo is as mentioned one of the most well known clubs the club head has been shaped to provide a longer shot length whilst still having excellent shot accuracy.

If twisting action is problematic within your swing then then FT-i Squareway may be a better choice of club for you asFT-i Squareway has a squareway inertial design placing the weight of the club head in the most extreme corners of the club. The result of this is that the club is loss prone to twisting throughout the swing action.

The X-Hot is designed to increase accuracy in hitting the ball the sole is split into two sections hich creates a smoother movement within the stroke. This design is exclusive to the Callaway X-Hot series.

The Callaway FT series of clubs are created using a variety of metals this allows for greater callibration of the center of gravity of the club head and thus an even sweeter sweet spot resulting in increased trajectory and shaping of the shot.

The angle of the club face on a three wood is usually between 13 and 15 degrees, this is known as the loft of the wood. From a three wood you should be aiming to get the ball to travel around the 250 yard mark. When a driver is not an appropriate club for the tee off a 3 wood can be used. It is also handy for shots where the ball is just off the fairway or when the ball has a good lie in the rough.

A lot of technical thought goes into the designing of clubs as illustrated by the four models discussed above. The best way to find out which club is right for you is to actually go out and use it. Everybody has a different style of swing and as such a club that is good for one person might not be the best for another.

The club heads of 3 woods are usually made from an alloy of titanium or steel. The advantage of steel is it\’s cheaper cost however a titanium club head will provide more power due to it\’s lighter weight.

These metals as discussed above are also used for fairway woods too. The higher the wood the more loft that is achieved with it. An increase in loft means the ball will travel higher in the air and therefore a smaller length away from you.

The 1-wood is longest club a golfer can use, there are 2-woods manufactured but it is rare to find a golfer who uses one therefore the 3-wood is usually the second biggest club in a golf bag. The advantage of using woods instead of drivers is that they have smaller heads and are easy for beginners to start out with when striking a ball off the tee.

Use one of the best clubs out there by purchasing the Callaway 3 wood in your bag. Head online to find great prices, even on a nice canvas field bag to use. Go online today and find out more.

Golf Courses Across the Country Are Going Out of Business

Published by Roy Williams under Golf

Golf clubs across the country are closing down and going out of business across the United States at a extremely shocking rate. Florida, the state with more golf clubs than any other state, is seeing this more and more. A lot of these failing golf courses are blaming the economy, and some are blaming the current state of golf in general; but I see things differently, they should be blaming themselves.

The golf industry is behind the times in almost every core aspect of running a business in this day and age. Most golf clubs still have a website that looks like something that my 12 year old son could create. These golf clubs need to embrace technology and develop a website that both promotes AND generates business. There are a handful of golf marketing businesses that specifically create websites to help generate more business for golf clubs, why aren\’t more clubs taking advantage of them?

Another way the golf industry is behind the times is just marketing in general. Look at how much effort golf resorts are putting into promoting themselves. Are they even attempting to promote their golf course? The average golf courses do the following things which they call \”marketing\”.

They place a black and white ad in the county newspaper showing how they just lowered the price of play. This only gets them into discount wars with their competition which only causes them to lose even MORE money. They should instead be finding things that they are good at and promoting their business on those subjects so it drives more people to the course to take advantage of the things they do best.

They place a boring ad in the yellow pages and local phone book. Honestly, with the invention of search engines such as Google and the amount of people who use the internet these days, how many people do you think still use the phone book to find information when they could just power up their computer, type in a search term, and have the answer to their question quickly? The answer is that phone book usage is dropping by ten percent almost every year because of new technology! These clubs that are spending thousands of dollars a year on this single ad could be directing that extra money towards something more beneficial such as a website or direct mail campaign like I mentioned above.

They place an ad in the local penny saver. Once again, something that is proven to be ineffective in this day and age. Instead they should be looking into fusion marketing techniques and working with other businesses to promote their golf club. They could easily go to the local Cadillac dealer and give away a free round of golf with every car purchase. Not only will the dealership easily accept this offer, but it will get new people, with MONEY, at the course and they will easily make up the lost green fee revenue by the new players paying for a cart fee or eating after the round at the club house. They will even convert some of these players into regulars. Think about that for a second, if they charge forty dollars a round, and the new players plays on average ten times a year, they just made an extra $400 off green fees alone. If you get 20 new players a year from the car dealership that\’s an extra $8,000 a year from a simple green fee promotion with a car dealership!

Another way golf resorts are slowly killing themselves is with real estate. A lot of golf communities that were doing great in the early 2000s are now drowning in a sea of debt because of unsold lots, unsold homes, and not enough members. What can they do to help fix this problem? Lets look at what Juliette Falls, which is a Golf Resort in Florida, in Dunnellon did. They first got a first-class website from a company named Legendary Marketing. They built their website into something that looks very good and promotes exactly what they do. Well guess what, the economy dropped off and now they have over forty homes that are in the price range of $500,000 to more than a million and no one was buying them. How can they turn this around? They came up with an incredible promotion that is how! At Juliette Falls you can stay in a Florida Luxury Golf Home worth over a million dollars, play a round of golf, enjoy the onsite spa and eat at a fancy restaurant for $199 a night. If they sell only one night for every day of the year, that\’s over $70,000 in additional revenue for the resort AND they get new prospects and leads at the course every single day which they can use to promote to in the future! Why aren\’t all the golf communities thinking this way?

As you can see, the golf industry is slowing killing itself by being behind the times in technology, marketing, real estate and a host of other things that will be addressed in a future article. If you are a member of a golf club, or even better part of the members committee, stand up and bring attention to the actions your golf club is taking. Tell your club they need to break the mold of what they have been doing because it isn\’t working. Make them think outside the box! Make your golf management company become accountable for the actions the club takes! It may be the only thing left that can save your golf community!

4 Choices Of Cheap Golf Clubs

Published by Mick Euan Tait under Golf

If you are looking for cheap golf clubs, then read on, because I am going to tell you about the top 4 options that are available. Most people think of eBay when they are searching for cheap golf clubs but I am not a fan of buying golf clubs from a nameless person who is selling clubs of an unknown condition.

By all means, you can check out what is on offer at eBay but take into consideration the following top 7 online golf equipment stores that offer great golf club discount rates. Generally, most online golf stores can give you a good golf clubs discount, so let\’s look at the different types of golf clubs and my top 4 options for cheap golf clubs.

First we have the option of buying new clubs from the top name brand golf club manufacturers; TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, or Nike (for example.) Of course, these are not the cheapest clubs that you can buy, but for those that really want clubs from the top brands can still save some money by buying online.

The latest offerings from these companies can be prohibitively expensive. Normally, these companies offer a great golf clubs discount on last season\’s clubs. As an example, the Nike SQ Sumo Squared 5900 driver retails from $400 or more but the model it replaced, the Nike SQ Sumo Squared 460 driver can be found for only $200 or less. You can find these golf clubs for sale or even at closeout prices at some online golf stores; the top 2 being TGW and ScoreLow.

Option number two is selecting a decent second tier brand name golf club. Although there is some debate as to what is considered a top name and a second tier name golf company, let\’s say that some second tier brands are Maxfli, Adams Golf, Bridgestone, Hippo, Mizuno, Nickent, Tour Edge, and G.R.I.P. These are quite cheap golf clubs but of very good quality and you can see them at InTheHole or at TGW.

The golf club manufacturer, G.R.I.P., is one that you may not have heard about but they are worth a closer look. To say these are cheap golf clubs is an understatement when you see all the innovative design features, playability, and custom fitting options that you are getting. I have to admit that these are my favorite clubs due to their dedication to design clubs specifically for the recreational or beginner golfer. They have all the specifications that make them easier to play with, more forgiving of mistakes, and lastly they bring the fun into golf that is missing for many struggling with their game. These clubs can only be found at G.R.I.P.\’s official website.

Option number three is to buy preowned golf clubs, but not from eBay! There are a couple of online golf stores that specialize in preowned golf clubs that come with a 100% guarantee and warranty – GlobalGolf and 3Balls. Their clubs are cleaned, inspected, graded and rated; sometimes you will get a new grip and club headcover too.

The fourth option for cheap golf clubs is to look into cheap golf club clones. Pinemeadow Golf is the number one golf club clone manufacturer, offering exceptionally high quality custom built clubs that compare features and performance to the top brand name clubs but at a fraction of the cost. Some of the brands that they clone are Callaway, TaylorMade, Ping, Cleveland, and Odyssey.

These are my top 4 options when you are looking for cheap golf clubs. For the best golf clubs discount price, you can\’t go wrong with any of these options. You could choose from the top brands of golf clubs for sale or with closeout prices, cheap golf clubs from the second tier manufacturers, preowned golf clubs, or the highest quality cheap golf club clones.

How To Buy Good Golf Clubs on the Cheap

Published by Dan Easterling under Golf

Some of the most expensive accessories to buy are golf clubs. There is really no reason this is the way it should be. The more expensive the golf club, the better the technology it has and the more features it has. However, for the average golfer it is a complete waste of money to buy the most expensive club. Used clubs can be purchased for a reasonable amount of money. Surprisingly, these may be more suited to the average duffer than the most expensive clubs. Read below to find some reasons to buy cheaper clubs and some places you can acquire them.

One major temptation for the beginning golfer is to buy very expensive clubs, thinking skills will improve like magic. Amazing golf requires amazing technique, and it is not acquired overnight. The more expensive the golf club, the more efficient it is and the more unforgiving it is of bad technique. If you make the slightest wrong move, you will hit the trajectory of the ball so far off, you will wonder where the ball went. If you keep playing with beginning golf clubs, you will be able to work on your technique.

Secondhand golf clubs can both save you money and provide clubs that match your skill level. These clubs may not be on the cutting edge of technology, but they will still have substantial advantages over entry level clubs. When buying used clubs, pay special attention to anything that would trade-off club quality. If they clubs have been used enough, they may be near worn out or worn out. Before any cash passes hand, its a good idea to take the clubs out and use them. Otherwise, if its a good friend you are buying from, you might be able to use the for a longer period before deciding to purchase.

Where do you find used clubs? Pawn shops, auctions, and now even online auctions like eBay are good places to look first. Golf clubs are hot auction items, so there are always many to pick and choose from. You will have to learn how to recognize clubs and judge whether they are worth the money. Like many other items, golf clubs can be found in pawn shops and you can look and feel as many as you want there. That way, you can end of finding ones that fit your needs. And if you just determine what you want and know the model number, you go online and bid on an auction in hopes of finding that club or clubs cheaper. This way you can acquire a good set of clubs much cheaper than you can buying retail.

You can find cheap golf clubs, but let the buyer beware. If you know what you are looking for and understand wear signs, you can minimize your risk. But if its your first time to buy, be careful so that you don’t waste your money. Be careful and plan out future purchases, do your homework, understand the market, and you will be able to purchase a good set of clubs at minimal risk.
