Plastic snakes can be pretty creepy, especially if you have an aversion to the real ones. They’re definitely not a girl’s best friend. Some people really like snakes, keeping them as pets like a dog or cat. Others are deathly scared of the reptiles and are repulsed by the thought of even touching one. Those are the two extremes.

Plastic replicas of snakes are becoming more life-like looking all the time. Sometimes they’re used to play a practical joke on an unsuspecting victim and their realistic looks can be very convincing. It’s kind of mean to put a fake snake on the floor of Mom’s shower, but what kid hasn’t done something like that at least once?

There’s a handy tip in the Farmer’s Almanac regarding the use of fake snakes. They recommend placing several around your garden to discourage uninvited guests visiting your vegetable patch. A realistic looking snake will scare away rats, rabbits and mice just like a real snake will. They don’t know the difference, but you’ll see a real difference in your plants’ well-being.

They used to be made exclusively from metal which made them a pain to use although they did the job fairly well. Using a heavy, rusty and cumbersome snake was just a pain, but the best way known to unclog a clog. Things have changed.

But now, with the advent of much stronger and more durable plastics, they’re being made not only better but more efficient as well. Some of the more popular plastic drain cleaning snakes attach to a water source, so you’re not just ‘snaking’ the drain but blasting it with a jet stream of water at the same time. Some models even have rotating side jets and a flusher jet up front to blow everything down the line and scour the entire pipe. That’s a big improvement over the ‘old days ways’.

Having a good vertical gives quite an advantage over your competition in basketball. It is however, not very easy to attain such a vertical. A correct training routine and weight training will help you achieve that vertical, but you need correct training and discipline.

But let’s leave the training part for later. There is something that is equally as important as training but is often neglected by athletes. It’s nutrition. Without proper nutrition, all the training in the world will go useless. You need enough proteins in your diet so you can repair all the damaged muscles in your body and by doing so improve your overall jumping capability. You should also make sure that you warm up before exercises so you minimize the risk of injury.

When you are training for vertical jumping, you need to be careful in what exercises you choose. You need to strategically include each exercise in your routine to give the most effective results. Remember, if you train for endurance, you won’t gain explosiveness. What you need to train for is quickness with strength. That will give you the explosiveness that jumping higher for basketball requires. Combined with proper nutrition, these exercises will give you staggering results.

For you to dunk and hook you need to strengthen your quadriceps, calves, hamstrings and arms. Initiate with the exercises that strengthen your muscles for the first three weeks.
